The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Have been going here for years and was really disappointed by the service and overall atmosphere of the walnut room. Quality had dropped drastically

Our server, Lex, and our host, Danielle, were both fantastic! They went above and beyond to ensure my family and I had a wonderful night. Truly a cherished family memory! Well done Lex and Danielle!

Always a great holiday tradition to have dinner at the Walnut Room. Thank you for making the reservation process so much better than it was before. The meal never disappoints. The service was outstanding. Our waiter Lex couldn’t have been better

Been trying to book them since November for our Anniversary celebration in December but they’re already booked and got lucky to get a reservation on the day. And the lady who seated us graciously grant our request to be seated close to the tree.

First time at the Walnut Room and I truly enjoyed myself. The menu choices, the prices, the ambience were all amazing. I was curious on the reservation details because I reserved for one, since that was all that was available online, but sat at a beautiful table for four...alone. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I'm concerned the reservation detail when scheduling was off. I will be back again. It gives a high end feel on a budget!

Overall very enjoyable experience! They were very understanding that we were missing 2 people from our original count and seated us immediately. Food was very good and server was friendly and on top of things. Very accommodating restaurant.

A great holiday tradition, made even better by exceptional service from Daniel. Daniel enacted great service and made great recommendations! Another wonderful part was the photographer we worked with - Ronit Bezalel. Ronit helped us with all our angles and got the best pictures of our family of 10 in front of the giant Christmas tree. Food wise, our family loved the Chicken Pot Pies and all the desserts.

It was crazy busy, which is understandable considering it’s the Saturday before Christmas, but my family had so much fun.

Everyone was on top of their game. Took a minute for food and drinks but it’s fine. Place was fully staffed and everyone was very friendly. Pot pie was delicious too. 10/10
