Located in downtown Old Worthington, The Whitney House serves made from scratch, refined yet rustic, American comfort food. We utilize fresh and local ingredients and constantly look for new and innovative ways to serve our community.

The Whitney House pays homage to the homes and kitchens in our past that welcomed all, treated everyone like family and offered drinks and food made with love.

We opened the Whitney House because we love our mothers. Our menu is based on the glory days of Sunday dinners when the entire family would pile into the dining room (and the living room if we ran out of chairs) to sit, catch up and enjoy a delicious meal together.

We want for you to feel at home when you stop by the Whitney House. We are looking forward to serving you!

We offer Happy Hour Tuesday-Friday 4-6pm in our Tavern

Our patio is open and is sat on a first come, first serve basis and weather permitting.

The chicken pot pie was outstanding, the tomato soup , ok, didn’t care for the balsamic on top, the grilled cheese, ok, would have preferred more traditional with cheddar cheese, the beet salad and hamburger, outstanding. The service outstanding, the ambience is a little sterile, We will probably be back, but could use some updates and better music, and a little more class.

We went for brunch. We had checked out the menu in advance. For brunch there are two sweet options & maybe 5-7 savory entrees. We wanted to try the french toast & the waffles. Our server informed us they had just run out of french toast & their waffle iron was broken. This was at 1:00 PM & brunch goes until 3. So we ordered a burger & short rib hash dish, along with breakfast potatoes, which were described as potatoes with onions, peppers & sausage. Sounds good right? Well the potatoes had no onion pepper or sausage to be found. The burger was decent. The short rib hash was meh at best. Black burnt Brussel sprouts, almost zero short rib. We were not offered a chance to order a second drink until we had finished eating. So brunch was meh.

Had two drinks. Both seemed watered down. Couldn't taste the alcohol in either one. Drinks were $12 and $14 respectively. Definitely high for what I got. Disappointing, especially for the price. Ordered the chicken pot pie, nightly special. It was very good. That being said, at $29 for pot pie it seemed a bit pricey. Wife got the THT? burger which was good...but $22 for burger and fries. Had the chocolate toffee cake? for dessert. It was very good. The ambience was very good, but it was extremely loud. Server was nice but brought my drink right when to food came. I like to have a before-dinner drink and that came really slowly. One of my pet peeves. Total bill for (2) drinks each and dinner was about $103. Not worth what we got, IMO, especially the drinks. I know, it's a very nice place, nice atmosphere. I would say it was a decent experience but nothing to write home about.

Always a nice place to eat. Was a bit disappointed on the grilled cheese (paired with tomato soup which was delicious). The grilled cheese was full of onions and very light on the cheese. Needs to be the other way around. Love the tomato jam but overall just really disappointed.

Food was great, bartenders were pleasant and attentive. several unfortunate misses in terms of our experience. We had a reservation and still had a 20+ minute wait. When our table was ready, we were sat in the main dining room instead of at a high top (which is what we reserved). When we asked, they said there would be an additional wait and weren't given the option to do so. We were at a very small 2 top along the half wall near the front of the restaurant where people were basically standing over us while they waited for their tables. The dining room was smokey and we stunk when we left. Music was very loud and didn't seem to fit the vibe. Disappointed, as we haven't been in a while and had previously had a positive experience.

The mushroom gnocchi is exceptionally delectable, making it an ideal choice for vegetarians. The elevated tavern fries were also remarkable.

The chicken burger was fantastic. The house salad had all the right ingredients but tasted like you were sucking on a lemon. The restaurant has a nice vibe and the hostess was wonderful. Our server seemed distant and we had to request drinks silverware and service.
