Wonderful history & setting - would benefit from a refresh to bring back its early charm & sophistication.

So very outdated. Normally the views are wonderful but with the all the humidity in the room, all of the windows were fogged up and nothing was visible outside. Negatives: > The decor is outdated > Food offerings and presentation need improvement. > Wine/sparkling offerings: Lackluster and no imagination - Core basics with not much to them.

Not as I remember it from years past. The maître d’ was abrupt and unwelcoming. Perhaps he was having a bad day. The wait staff was scarce and appeared unhappy. I’m unlikely to return.

The view is fantastic. The space was cold, would have been better if it was slightly warmer. Server was good, but service was slow due to a poor ratio of service staff to customers. The snacks were great and the host was very kind and thoughtful. It definitely falls into 3 to 4 stars for cost. All in all it’s a rare but fun treat.

Our party of 6, with reservations, was seated at two small coffee table cubes placed in front of an old soiled loveseat pushed against the wall in an out-of-the-way spot. Four uncomfortable chairs were added to accommodate our group. To see the lovely view, we needed to get up and walk across the floor to the windows and hover near other diners' tables. We were in the city for a holiday concert and we had looked forward to a festive pre-show cocktail hour at the Top of the Mark, happy to pay inflated prices in exchange for a special treat. Instead, we ended up feeling like we were being punished, isolated from the other diners, denied a view, sipping our expensive drinks as we hunched over our low table and sampled the appetizers. Even a visit to the ladies' restroom was depressing, with discarded tissue on the floor and a broken trash receptacle that had fallen off the wall. This was a very disappointing experience.

Overpriced cocktails, unimaginative tapas, slow service, old furniture, and drafty windows. Disappointment offset by great views, I guess. Yes, this is a historic location where you can come for a very expensive cocktails and a nice view. But if it is cold out, you will feel chilled at your table by the window.
