This 15th Century coaching inn is situated only 100 yards from St. Albans city centre opposite the cathedral and abbey. The hotel retains plenty of history with our restaurant being the place where England declared war on Spain. With oak panelling surroundings you can relax and enjoy quality food, wine and real ales in our bar and restaurant. This is the second time we have had Sunday lunch here. It was very good, like the first time. Dogs are allowed in the bar area for dining so of course our dog came too. Service was very good, portions were generous, food was hot and tasted very nice, and overall it was a great Sunday lunch.

Not been there for a long time and was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality of the food. It was a Valentines Day set menu and the food was very tasty and excellent quality They had set the restaurant up beautifully for the evening so there was a lovely ambiance Will definitely return - thanks everyone

We had a table booked for 4.00pm for Christmas Dinner but we were not seated until 5.10pm. We received an apology from staff, but the festive mood was already ruined. The only reason we didn't leave was because they had taken a deposit from us. After finally being seated and given a menu it was another long wait before our order was taken. You guessed it, even more time went by before one of the staff asked us if we were ready for our main course. We hadn't even had our starter!! We were given two free drinks by way of apology, but it didn't save the day. When the main finally came it was mediocre to say the least. They then had the cheek to try and charge a £45.00 service charge which we had removed before paying the bill. A restaurant to avoid.

Wonderful ambience at the White Hart Hotel Best Christmas dinner eaten out of 6 eaten during December. Price was a little steep but otherwise a perfect lunch and portion sizes were amazing Thank you very much and A Happy New Year to you all

The warmest welcome in St Albans! The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food is never less than excellent and the price is amazing. I love the linen napkins and weighty cutlery, the sumptuous Tudor touches in the dining room and the wide selection of soft drinks on offer. 3 of us ate today, for less than £100. Value, luxurious touches and homey attentions to detail, what’s not to love? We’ll be back soon.

Very pleased with the food here. We were the only people in the restaurant, However, that actually worked out quite well. The service was very friendly and efficient.
