Special occasion type of restaurant. Expensive, but, WORTH it, kind of, definitely! We’d do it again! Barry was simply amazing! Definitely a bucket list type of experience!

Umi never ceases to amaze. The food is always divine, especially the chocolate maki. The team of servers are always incredible, too. This time we had the lovely Ashley and she was fantastic. She not only recommended the perfect drink for me, she also seamlessly allowed a dessert substitution for the 7 course dinner tour. If you are a fan of upscale sushi, this is a must-try restaurant!

Still excellent after all these years. The fixed price menus feature old standards as well as some fresh innovations. As we've aged, it's a little more difficult to climb the narrow steps and sit in the sunken tables, but fun once you are there! No better fish preparations in the city.

First time at Umi. Fantastic experience. Tatami tables offer a traditional Japanese vibe and a unique experience. Highly recommend.

Extremely overpriced. The food was good but not fantastic. Menu is limited and generally forced into the price fixe menu.

It was one of the best meals, experiences and service I have had in a very long time and probably the best in Pittsburgh! Our server was exceptional! The only negative was that we had the Chef’s seven course selection and although there was plenty of food overall to make you full, each individual plate was so good that you wanted more!!!’
