It was not as good as our prior dining experiences at this institution. We were there on a Friday night, and the place was crowded. The front-of-house service staff was pleasant and courteous. I've been in the restaurant business for the last 16 years, and I understand how an off night. The food delivered to our table was perfectly timed, but their classic dishes were off for whatever reason. The shoestring fries weren't crispy, and the chicken was dry and overcooked. Was the kitchen overwhelmed or did someone forget to check the food before it was served? Perhaps what rubbed us the wrong way wasn't so much the automatic 25% surcharges —20% for Fair Wage GRATUITY and 5% SF employee health mandate — in addition to sales tax. IT WAS THE AUDACITY TO HAVE A RED RUBBER STAMP ON THE BILL REQUESTION ADDITIONAL TIPS THAT WAS DISREPECTFUL AND OUTRIGHT PANDERING. That isn't what the "Fair Wage Gratuity" surcharge was for. Requesting an additional tip is an overreach. Sorry, this is not a way to run a business and endear yourself to guests. I've been coming to your restaurant since 1982; your food is excellent on a good night... when it's off, you have these obscene charges. It's adding insult to injury. I no longer feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to friends or out-of-towners. I will go out of my way to avoid your restaurant even with the great food.

Had lunch with my cousin catching up and the sound quality was great because we could hear each other the whole time without having to raise our voices. The food was delicious and service fantastic. Looking forward to returning soon. Lovely to see it bustling on a weekday during lunch.

The food and service were very good. Better than the last few times I went which was 3 or 4 years ago and decided to stop going. Lovely night with a friend.

We always love going to Zuni. The staff are accommodating to our needs for a quieter space and the ability to fit us in when they could.

The chicken lived up to all the praise I had read and heard over the years. Excellent service, our other food was delicious, and we loved having an intimate little table by a window. A great place for a date night.

The Epitome of California Cuisine. Classic, simple, fresh, tasty in a very warm, comfortable airy glassed corner. Always great service. There is a reason this reastaurant has been here since I was here in the 80's.

It is a consistently positive experience with great menu and service. A little loud upstairs, though.

We’ve been here before and loved the food. We came w/ our friends who live on the Peninsula and told them about the delicious roast chicken w/bread salad. We all ordered the roast chicken , shoestring potatoes and Caesar salad. The chicken and fries were warm but not hot. The chicken was a bit dry as was the bread in the bread salad that the chicken rests on. There was not as much of the bread salad as on previous occasion when we’ve come. For Dessert we shared the Pavlova which was really good. Overall, it was disappointing and we felt bad that our friends drove into the City for this meal. 3.5/5
